Our Legal team is key in enabling efficient decision-making and fostering a secure and dynamic environment that drives our efforts forward.

We’re looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Operations team and provide comprehensive legal support to our teams across the organization in both Tel Aviv and the United States

In this role you will

This role focuses on labor and employment, as well as commercial law, and involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with privacy laws, and providing strategic legal advice. This role would collaborate closely with teams across the organization (such as Product, R&D, Partner Success...) to address legal needs and implement best practices. 

  • Advise on employment matters in the U.S. and in Israel such as drafting employment agreements, advising on and shaping workplace policies, ensuring compliance with labor regulations in states across the U.S. and in Israel, and overseeing ESOP practices and workflows.  
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including customer agreements, vendor agreements, partnership/referral/consulting agreements, and NDAs.
  • Enhance Empathy’s privacy program to comply with various privacy laws and regulations (such as CCPA, Israeli privacy laws, HIPAA) and provide ongoing guidance on data protection and privacy issues.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across the organization (such as Product, R&D, Partner Success) to address legal needs and implement best practices. 
  • Build out Empathy’s legal roadmap for entering new markets and execute roadmap implementation. 
  • Advise on corporate legal matters such as corporate governance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on employment matters, legal issues and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's law degree and qualification to practice law in the U.S. and/or in Israel.
  • 3+ years of labor law experience in a U.S. labor law department at a law firm, or serving as in-house counsel for labor and employment matters.
  • Commercial law experience in a commercial or hi-tech department at a law firm, or serving as in-house counsel at a tech company.
  • Experience and comfort with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Mastery of English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations (such as CPRA, U.S. state laws, HIPAA) – an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred 

  • Corporate legal experience – an advantage.
